Sketching and designing a character of a picture

Today I want to give You an (small) insight into my work, while I`m listening to an audiobook (“The Tripods” by John Christopher. Anybody knows or remembers? It`s really, really good!).

Preparing the picture “Kingmakers” began with the first pencil draft on the left side.
Although I never wanted to draw persons anymore, I decided for one man character inside the picture. Yes, sometimes things come a little bit different…. and yes, friends of mine (those who know me)!
Despite I`m listening to “The Tripods”, I can hear your laughter :-).
The ink sketch on the right side is/was the final draft that I decided for to use.
